Our Story
Like the Muniya bird, our girls rise above adversity
Have you ever heard the joyous melody of the Muniya? This tiny, vibrant songbird, with its boundless energy, brings a touch of liveliness wherever it goes. It embodies resilience and beauty despite its fragile appearance. Just like the Muniya, young adolescent girls — our Muniyas, as they are affectionately called in our country — embody the same spirit, full of hope, potential and a zest for life.
Here at the Muniya Foundation, we see a beautiful reflection of these young girls in the very essence of the Muniya. Both represent hope and the promise of a brighter future, embodying qualities of grace, strength, and the need for nurturing care to let them thrive and fly unbound. The harsh reality is that millions of our Muniyas face tremendous challenges. Worldwide, millions of young girls miss out on education and opportunities due to poor health and hygiene practices, compounded by societal stigma — factors that hinder their educational prospects and impact their overall well-being and future potential.
The Muniya Foundation was born from a deep desire to dismantle these barriers, drawing strength from the ancient wisdom of our land. We believe that every girl, like the Muniya bird, deserves the freedom to soar. Our goal is to transcend barriers, ensuring that every girl can pursue her dreams without limitations, in an equitable environment that supports their growth and development.
